This Atlantic snow crab from Fogo Island is harvested by inshore vessels using baited conical pots with minimum size netting that permits smaller crab, female crab and other fish species to escape. The snow crab are carefully stored on board the vessel, are landed quickly and processed live to ensure maximum quality.
Defrost and let steam or simmer for 5-7 minutes or until hot. Gently twist the leg to free it from the cluster and bend at the joints to release the meat inside. Be cautious of the sharp edges and spines of the outer shell. Carefully crack the outer shell of the legs to reveal the delicate meat and enjoy! To access the small pockets of meat within the cluster, gently fold it open and remove with a fork.
