DIVINE.
The addition of tart Honeycrisp apples and sweet and savoury French Onion jam really bring the classic grilled cheese to another level.
Ingredients
- 1 x Stonetown Fontina Cheese, sliced
- 1 x Mountainoak Medium or 2 year Gouda, sliced
- 2 x tbsp Provision's French Onion Jam
- 1 x Honeycrisp apple, thinly sliced
- 2 x slices Spent Goods Sourdough
- 1 x Mike & Mike's organic sage
- 1/4 cup Golden Dawn butter
Method
Cut two slices of bread from your Spent Goods sourdough loaf. On one piece, spread a generous layer of your French onion jam. Add your apple slices in a thin layer and top with your cheese, alternating between slices of the different types of cheese. Top with your second slice of bread.
In a frying pan, heat your butter on medium heat. Add your sage leaves and watch your butter closely, stirring it until it starts to turn a golden colour. Remove your sage leaves from the pan and add your sandwich to the pan on top of the browned butter and let toast until it is nice and golden brown. Flip your sandwich and toast it on the other side until golden. Turn off the pan and cover it until your cheese is completely melted.
Remove your grilled cheese from the pan, slice in half and enjoy!
